The Women in Technology program (WIT) is a work-based
learning project that places young women in junior engineering roles.
The purpose of the program is to bring young women into math and engineering
career fields. Two days each month the students work closely with engineers
at Foxboro/Invensys and Texas Instruments to solve real world problems.
This year the young women from Foxboro High worked with other young
women from New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical School and Tri-Country
Regional Vocational Technical School at Invensys/Foxboro to design,
develop and document a web-based search engine and database application.
When completed, the application will allow the company engineers to
access and retrieve technical documents and will impact engineers at
the company’s facilities in Foxboro, Ma, and New Delhi, India.
This program was offered in collaboration with Bristol Community College
and with the support of Invensys/Foxboro.
