During an unprecedented time, we are committed to connecting students and employers as much as possible. We want to emphasize to employers that while things may look different, students are still looking for meaningful connections with community members and employment opportunities. During the lock down in the spring of this year many high school students supported their communities as essential workers in supermarkets and other essential businesses. Now that more businesses have reopened many teens are looking for work, job experience and career exploration. Below are ways employers can help students in a variety of formats today.

WAYS EMPLOYERS CAN CONTINUE TO SUPPORT STUDENTS:
- Virtual Job Shadows: If you or anyone in your company can spare 15-20 minutes, take a video tour of your workspace and provide a brief explanation of what you do. Check out this link for great examples! https://connectednational.org/watch/day-at-work-videos/
- Virtual Mock Interviews: This has turned into our new norm. Students should prepare for virtual interviews in their future. Hosting a brief session to ask common questions and help students learn how to stand out in the applicant pool is crucial.
- Work- Based Learning Projects: Provide a real world project or problem that can be researched by our students through distance learning.
- Virtual Internships: Student interns can do work from home for your company! Similar to work based learning, students can be assigned projects, complete independent work, participate in meetings, and most importantly, benefit from mentorship.
- Employment Opportunities: Many students are in need of safe employment opportunities for the school year and beyond. Any assistance with the application process that an employer can provide, is crucial. If you are hiring, reach out to us by email and we will help connect students to YOU!
- Linked-In Tutorial: While Social Media is used by most students, very few utilize it for professional purposes. Provide students with a virtual tutorial on platforms you are currently utilizing and information on how professional networking sites are a great ways to support their professional growth at this time.
